Buncombe is assumed to have come out of Buncombe County, North Carolina sometime in the 1800's. A high quality dessert apple. Fruit is medium to large and very oblong or conical. Smooth yellow skin covered with deep purplish-red. Flesh yellowish, tender, juicy and sweet. Ripens September to October and keeps for a few months. |
