January 11, 2003

TO: Members of CWPOA.

FROM: Bob Begley and OJ Hefner.

The below information is a result of Mr. Hefner asking the Board to address the Mosquito problem in Cascadel. We gathered information for the homeowners to assist in abating Mosquito's.

Madera County will not provide any direct service to this area, as they are not funded for this part of Madera County. They did provide information to us that will be available at the office of the clubhouse. They recommended that we not use any chemicals unless applied by a person certified to use them. Mr. Hefner recommended that if you have trees with holes they should be filled with sand to eliminate any standing water. The material provided identifies numerous sources and methods to eliminate or reduce the standing water, which will abate the Mosquito. Information is also available from CDC on West Nile Virus. For those with computer access our web master has provided a link on our web page with much more information.

The Association has road sand available to homeowners who need it for Mosquito abatement. The sand is located on Cascadel Drive just past the bridge near the Clubhouse. For those who have small holes in trees, beach sand is recommended to fill in those areas.

We hope this is of some value to you and your families. Please come to the office and ask Cindy to make copies of information you want.

Bob Begley and OJ Hefner.

CASCADEL FIRE SAFETY COMMITTEE

Remember fire safety isn't just for summertime. Be sure to check your wood stoves and fireplaces for cracks and a dirty flue. Put ashes in a metal bucket when cleaning and, when fully extinguished, dump in a clear area.

At the September 9, 2002 meeting, the Board closed the Burn Pile.

Later this year the Association will clean up the remainder of the pile. We will need some volunteers to assist the Fire Committee to clean it up. Volunteers can contact the Cascadel Office and leave their name and number so, when the clean up is planned, someone can contact them.

If you have any suggestions or questions, call Bob Buckles at

877-3772. or Brian Curtis - 877-4379
